hey kids i recall someone mentioning some issue with owning a domain and
having a dynamic ip.
recently i switched from godaddy to namecheap and i notice they
provide dynamic dns service for any domain for free. it can be registered with
any registrar.

I'm not sure when this changed, but i looked into my dyndns.org account
and now see that my account was GONE... and when signing up again i now only have a SMALL choice of parent domains http://dyn.com/dns/dyndns-free/domain-names/
i know a lot of bbs people are effected by this, a lot of bbs people used kicks-ass.net and other domains.
the remaining domains are now attainable via the PRO service.

i know everyone's got to make money but these are HUGE changes.

Zoneedit sent me this email today.
it includes several notices of reduction in service.
many bbs sysops with dynamic ips and registered hostnames use zoneedit
to keep their dns current.

It has come to my attention that Mike Castleberry passed away in November of 2009. Known as Castlerock within the BBS community; Mike was a talented musician, a devoted husband, and a loving father. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing him, he will be missed.
